Keep Alamogordo Beautiful Recycling Survey Results 2023

On September 30, 2023, Keep Alamogordo Beautiful (KAB) closed its recycling survey. The survey received 135 responses, and the results are now available.


Most Recycled Material

The most recycled material in Alamogordo is cardboard, with 75.6% of respondents saying they recycle it. Other popular recycled materials include plastic bottles (65.9%), paper (51.1%), and metal cans (51.9%).


Recycling Frequency

Most respondents recycle monthly (29.6%), followed by weekly (25.9%). An equal percentage of respondents recycle daily or never recycle (16.3%).


Recycling Location

The most common place to recycle in Alamogordo is at a drop-off location (68.1%). The only other popular recycling location is a recycling center (6.7%).


Challenges with Recycling

The biggest challenge with recycling in Alamogordo is convenience, according to 39% of responses. Other challenges include a need for knowledge about what can be recycled, recycling bins are always full, and the ability to recycle glass/other materials (13% each).

KAB's Plans for Recycling

KAB will use the survey results to develop strategies to improve recycling in Alamogordo. Some of KAB's plans include:

  • Working with the City of Alamogordo and Otero County to introduce curbside recycling
  • Increasing public awareness about recycling and what can be recycled
  • Making recycling more convenient for residents

KAB is committed to making Alamogordo a more sustainable community; recycling is integral to that effort. KAB thanks everyone who participated in the survey, and KAB looks forward to working with the community to improve recycling in Alamogordo.

Keep Alamogordo Beautiful (KAB) recently conducted a survey to gather community input on the City of Alamogordo's Sustainable Green Spaces Program. The survey, which ran from October 26 to November 30, 2023, received 118 responses from Alamogordo residents of all ages and backgrounds. Keep Alamogordo Beautiful's Adopt-A-Spot Program Grows with New Adopters

Keep Alamogordo Beautiful (KAB) is excited to announce that several new businesses and individuals have adopted spots in our community through our Adopt-A-Spot program. Wells Fargo Alamogordo has adopted Tierra De Suenos Park. Wells Fargo Alamogordo adopting Tierra De SueƱos Park Mystic Smoke and Trinkets has adopted Alamogordo Airborne Park. First Command Financial Services has adopted Las Alturas Park. Josh & Oracio Farmer have adopted Rutz Park. Dan Roshio has adopted Paiute Park.
