AFSA Chapter 1257 Wins Casa Big Give Small Team Award

AFSA Chapter 1257 was awarded the 2023 Casa Big Give Small Team award for beautifying the South Scenic Pavilion in conjunction with Keep Alamogordo Beautiful. The award, which comes with a $2,500 prize, was presented on July 28, 2023.


The chapter members worked hard to paint the pavilion, clean the surrounding area, and organize the decorative rocks.

The South Scenic Pavilion is popular for picnics, weddings, and other events. The chapter's work has made it even more beautiful and welcoming.

Casa Toyota's Big Give is back for another year. The event, which runs from July 1 to July 28, brings together teams from Alamogordo and Holloman Air Force Base to organize projects in and around Otero County. This year's Big Give features 13 teams, with sizes ranging from 5 to 15 members.

The Big Give is an excellent opportunity for people to give back to their community and make a difference in the lives of others. The projects that are undertaken vary widely, but they all have one thing in common: they make Otero County a better place to live.

Keep Alamogordo Beautiful (KAB) recently conducted a survey to gather community input on the City of Alamogordo's Sustainable Green Spaces Program. The survey, which ran from October 26 to November 30, 2023, received 118 responses from Alamogordo residents of all ages and backgrounds. Demographics of Respondents Age:  18-24 (6.8%), 25-34 (19.5%), 35-44 (14.4%), 45-54 (16.9%), 55-64 (22%), 65+ (20.3%) Gender:  Female (72.9%), Male (25.4%), Non-Binary (1.7%) Length of Residency in Alamogordo:  10+ years (55.5%), 1-5 years (30.3%), 5-10 years (10.1%), Less than one year (4.2%) Green Space Usage and Preferences Survey respondents indicated that they frequently use green spaces in Alamogordo, with  parks (84%)  being the most popular type of green space, followed by  trails (65.5%)  and  natural areas (42.9%) . Volunteer with Keep Alamogordo Beautiful for District 5's Annual Clean-Up Event!

Join us on Saturday, July 15th from 7am-12pm for Alamogordo District 5's Annual Clean-Up Event! We'll be picking up trash and debris from our community's parks, trails, and streets. Keep Alamogordo Beautiful (KAB) is excited to announce that several new businesses and individuals have adopted spots in our community through our Adopt-A-Spot program. Wells Fargo Alamogordo has adopted Tierra De Suenos Park. Wells Fargo Alamogordo adopting Tierra De Sueños Park Mystic Smoke and Trinkets has adopted Alamogordo Airborne Park.
